Child Safety At Vibrant Kids
Leaving your child with people you have just met is the hardest thing we ask a first-time family to do. So here is exactly how it works — who is in the room, how they got there, and how we make sure your child leaves with you and no one else.
On your first Sunday you stop at Kids Check-In when you arrive. We register your child, and you both get a printed tag: your child wears one, you keep the matching one.
Your child is only released to the person holding the matching sticker. Not to a grandparent, not to a family friend, not to anyone who says they were sent — only to the matching tag. If you lose yours, we will work it out with you at the desk, and we would rather be awkward about it than casual about it.
A safety team works the hallway during both services. No one gets back into the kids area without a check-out sticker — not a visitor, not a regular attender, not a staff member who happens to be walking by.
Who Is With Your Child
Nobody serves in a Vibrant Kids room because they volunteered and seemed nice. Every person goes through the same two steps first, without exception:
A nationwide background check. Not county-level, not state-level — nationwide, because people move.
A one-on-one interview. A real conversation with a leader before they are ever placed in a room. We are looking at character and motive, not just availability.
And once someone is serving, the rule that governs everything else is simple: no adult is ever alone with a child. Not in a classroom, not in a hallway, not for a minute.
What Happens Inside
The infant room is staffed by women only. That is a policy, not a preference, and it does not change.
Every classroom is staffed to a fixed ratio — one adult for every three infants, one for every six toddlers, and one for every twelve elementary kids — and there are always at least two adults in the room regardless of how few children are in it.
Bathroom trips are never made with a single adult. If a child needs to go, two adults go. One never takes a child alone.
Kids are grouped by age, from nursery through elementary. Nursery and preschool rooms focus on worship, Bible stories and group activities; elementary gets live worship and creative teaching with kids their own age.
Questions Parents Ask
How do I know my child will be released to me and no one else?
At check-in you and your child get matching tags. Your child is released only to the person holding the matching sticker — no exceptions, and no substitutions arranged verbally. A safety team also controls access to the kids hallway, so no one without a check-out sticker can get back there at all.
Are your volunteers background checked?
Yes. Every person who serves with kids clears a nationwide background check and completes a one-on-one interview with a leader before they are placed in a room. Both steps happen first, not after.
Is an adult ever alone with a child?
No. Never, anywhere. Rooms are staffed at 1:3 for infants, 1:6 for toddlers and 1:12 for elementary, always with at least two adults present, and even a bathroom trip is made with two adults — one adult never takes a child alone.
Who works in the infant room?
The infant room is staffed by women only. That is a standing policy.
What if my child needs me during the service?
You will have a security code on your parent tag. If your child needs you, we text you and you can come straight back.
